My Pictures of the Birds of Nauvoo

When we first arrived in Nauvoo, we were amazed at the number and variety of birds. The marshland just south of Nauvoo is a bird sanctuary. There are many species that live year around in Nauvoo. In addition Nauvoo lies on the path of many migratory birds that stop in Nauvoo in the spring and again in the fall. When I took a walk in the morning, I was greeted with a cacophony of music and antics from the birds. I took a number of pictures of geese, pelicans, wild turkeys and other birds.  I have also used some pictures that others have taken of eagles, swans, turkey buzzards and others  to add to My Pictures of the Birds of Nauvoo. We were also surprised at the abundance of other wildlife in Nauvoo. There were deer, muskrats, raccoons, squirrels, and one sighting of a coyote. Noticeably absent were domestic cats and dogs. There was also an abundance of bugs. The most delightful were the fireflies that made the lawn and trees sparkle in the evening. The most bothersome were the chiggers that lived in the grass and itched like crazy when they bite even though they were so small you couldn't exactly see them. And the nosiest were the cicadas.
